I'm interested in learning about this supposed Covill Sr who was a brother of John & James Abercrombie. I understand making logical supposions based on child-naming patterns when there is no supporting documentation. (Like having to work with no marriage records from the early Carolina backcountry, which certainly did not mean an absence of marriages).

It's been my guess that Chrystie who married Martin Dial was the dau of John Abercrombie and that she was born in the early 1760s. For 2 reasons: 1)lack of daughters listed for John & the early 1760s birthdate fits with the rest of John's children & fits with Chrystie giving birth to Dail children in the 1780s, and 2) I show first Dial son as John Hastings, not Colvill, plus the one Dial dau was named Hannah which could come from John's wife Ann Kellett?

Your (and anyone else's) thoughts on this will be appreciated.
