I have been reading the exchanges between TRS and others, and find it interesting. But there is no substance, there is no proof of any of the statements. You cannot not base a family tree on naming patterns. I have been researching our family since the 60's. I have traveled to Laurens County and talked to many relatives who are now long gone. No one has ever stated there was a Colvill Sr, until now. Many of the people I talked to knew many of the children of Alexander, Jonathan,William, and Colvill families. No one before now has ever said we may have come from New Jersey? Although I think there was a number of flaws in the Martin Dial book , he at least was more of a contemporary and offered more proof then we have here. I believe it it is great to speculate, and perhaps new information will come to light. But I hope everyone realizes that this information cannot be written down for facts,or we in turn will mislead future generations.
