Martin Dial is said to have been the son of Henry Arthur Dial -- by your theory there must have been a son named Henry Arthur, though we have no evidence of such son. Second son was John Hastings: John for Chrystie's father John Abercrombie and Hastings because Martin may have been raised by his older brother, Hastings. Then 3rd son was named for Chrystie's oldest brother Colvill Dial.

However, we need some evidence of the existance of this probable eldest son, Henry Arthur.

The problem with basing a descent theory on the naming pattern is that it was not always followed; it was usually followed. I have found deviations from the usual naming pattern in a good many of the lines I have studied.

Please, can share the downline of this probable Colvill, or refer me to the postings where you may already have shared this information.
