Kathy: You are correct-sorry-it wasn't clear. Explanation of case history: Richard Welch b Iredell NC 1774, d 1862 Thomas Co., Ga; spouse Abigail Blacksheer b abt 1792 d 1881 Grady Co., Ga. Ten children born bet 1820 & 1840 ,some b at Thomas Co.& Decatur Co., one being Martha Ann Welch b 9 Nov 1821 NC or Ga-it isn't clear where-d 4 Jan 1896 Madison Co., Fl, bur Macedonia Bapt Cem, Madison Co., Fl w/2nd spouse & children. (1st marr was to a Johnson). The preceeding generations of the two above families-Welch & Blacksheer seem to have come out of Thomas Co. The succeeding generations were all found at Madison Co., FL where they apparently lived over 50 yrs. These families seem to have been in the areas before or after the Indian affairs in Ga & Fl in these times. Rumor has it that Martha Welch d/o Richard Welch was Creek or half-Creek, I have no idea how the Indian heritage fits this picture, or if it was simply story passed down. This woman was my husband's 3xs grandmother.
