With regard to the DNA question, it might be better addresed to the DNA Forums and Messageboards that are available on the Internet.
With regard to your own family history, then you will have to do the "old fashioned" research. That is just simply going back thru each generation, documenting them from Primary Sources.

Sadly, these days, people seem more interested in finding their "Indian ancestor" than finding a true and accurate acount of their ancestors.
