hopefully this might be relevant information for you, this a gggreat uncle, he is down as Ambers but this a mispelling of the name, which was very common. I have got James parents plus the rest of the family

1. JAMES3 AMBROSE (THOMAS2, WILLIAM1) was born 13 Aug 1849 in Old Luce Wigtownshire Scotland. He married HANNAH MCLINTON 31 Dec 1879 in Govan Church Lanark Scotland. She was born Abt. 1855 in Stoneykirk Wigtownshire Scotland.

Notes for JAMES AMBROSE:
In 1881 James and Hannah were residing at 19 Logan St Govan Lanark

James in 1881 was a Potato Merchant Carter

The following person were boarders in 19 Logan St in 1881, they were Hugh Clark (29) Born Kirkcolm(Agriculuture labourer) and John Murphy (35) Born Inch (Cabinet Maker).
