Archer family search - "Kissin' Cousins" Reunions, Yorktown, TX?

Howdy,

I'm starting to trace my Family Tree and don't have much to go on. All I know is a bit about my Grandfather's family - James Leland Archer. I wish I had more, but here goes:

James Leland Archer Married Cleo Peters, divorced shortly after, but had a son - James Keith Archer. Born 1941. J.L. remarried in Mexico.

He had several brothers and sisters, including:

- Ed, who died in a car accident.

- Jewell, who married Helen ? and eventually became V.P. of operations for a Railroad - I have to assume Southern Pacific.

- Tincy (pronounced "Tine-see")

- Violet who used to own a liquor store in LaPorte, TX

One of the other interesting things is that their mother was known as "Big Mama", and had a daughter known as "Little Mama" who was apparently one heck of a cook. Unfortunately, their real names died with my Grandmother some years ago.

Somehow, they are also related to "Doc" Sistrunk (true name unknown), who was once the Sherriff of Yoakum County, TX.

Doc Sistrunk apparently bought some land in Yorktown, TX to host an Archer family reunion once a year. The land even had a clubhouse. I actually attended several times as a child in the 70's. The reunion was known as the "Kissin' Cousins" reunion.

I'm trying to find out anything I can about James Leland Archer's family so I can begin to trace back. I'm starting all the usual searches via records, but I'm also hoping someone will see this and can give me a kick-start.

Thanks for anything you can offer.

J.K. Archer
