William Howard Ashby was the son of Ernest T. Ashby.
When Ernest died May 22, 1932 his son W.H. Ashby of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was the informant for his father's death certificate. Ernest's parents are listed as Jefferson H. Ashby and Mary E. Hunt.
William H. Ashby age 24, his wife Marie age 23 and son William H. Ashby Jr. age 7 months are listed in the 1920 Census for Hanson, Hopkins County Kentucky. Marie and William H. Ashby Jr. were born in Mississippi. William H. Ashby was born in Kentucky. They were living with William's brother Robert N. Ashby age 28 and his wife Letitia age 26.
In the 1910 Census, William was listed as Howard age 14. He was living with his parents E. T. Ashby & Emma L. and brother Robert age 18 and sister Elna age 20. This census notes the family lived on the Slaughterville Road in Hanson, Kentucky.
In the 1900 Hanson KY Census, William is listed as Howard age 4 born August 1896. His father Ernest age 41 born March 1859. His mother Emma age 33 born August 1866. Sister Elna age 10 born August 1889. Brother Robert age 8 born September 1891. All were born in Kentucky.
