Barry, thanks a bunch for the info. There appears to be a wealth of circumstantial evidence that Tinson is Stephen's son (a researcher found more for me yesterday), but nothing absolutely conclusive. You mention "undocumented data indicating Tinson's marriage surety to Nancy Cooper was offered by Stephen Ashby" in reference to the Reese book. A researcher has found his Nelson Co., KY marriage bond and registry entry, a Stephen Ashby was indeed bondsman for this marriage. A copy is being mailed to me. I have also found Stephen and Tinson together or very close to each other on many tax lists for Nelson and later Shelby Co., KY. Together with Tinson on these lists are known sons of Stephen (Beady, Thomas, John) There are also land deeds that show them living next to each other. There's also a Nelson Co. court record (July term 1793) indicating Tinson Ashby was appointed constable in place of Stephen Ashby who had resigned. Furthermore, Beady was executor of Tinson's will. I see no other Ashby family in these counties during this time. So I guess while the evidence makes this connection almost a certainty, there might not ever be anything conclusive. I'm confident listing it as true, but just wanted to see if anybody else out there had come across something I had not yet found. FYI, I am quite certain Tinson and Nancy had a 3rd child not shown in your info. There is an Oct 1810 Shelby Co., KY marriage record for Joseph H. Stout to Polly Ashby, "daughter of Tinson". Tinson Ashby is also listed as bondsman. Polly is likely the female of age 16-26 listed with him on the 1810 census for Shelby Co., KY. Thanks again, Brett Notify Administrator about this message?
