Betty Lou Augustine was born July 28, 1927 in Mahaska County, Iowa. Her parents were Harold D. Augustine, born December 22, 1904 in Mahaska County, Iowa. Her mother was Mary Vail, born June 7, 1906. They were married July 29, 1926. Harold died September 6, 1980 in Des Moines, Iowa and buried in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Mary died January 29, 1988 and was also buried in Oskialoosa. Betty also had a younger brother named Charles Harold.
