Bachman, 1860s Indiana

This is a side issue in my genealogy, but may hold some clues and contacts, so I'm looking for some help.

My G-G-Grandfather was from a Pennsylvania Bachman (or Bauckman) family, born and raised in PA, lived out his entire life in PA, but enlisted in the First Indiana Cavalry out of Evansville in 1861. I know from later documents that members of the family moved to Indiana (and Michigan), but I can't really identify anyone there (named Bachman) in the 1860 census.

Here's what I have from the 1860 census:

Adam, Clark Co., Jeffersonville, age 56; born Germany (Deutschland), children born in Switzerland.

Alouis, Jeff. Co.; Madison, age 70, b. Switzerland. all children (ages 25, 20, 18) born Madison, IN.

Gerras, Franklin Co.; Salt Creek. age 45, b. Baden, wife B. Baden children born Ohio and Indiana.

John, Ripley Co., Adams. age 59. b. Russia. all children but the youngest born in Russia.

Georg, Vanderburgh Co., Evansville. age 35, b. Bavaria.
wife Rosina, born ??? maybe Bavaria. children born in New York and Pennsylvania.

a Fredericka also.

None of these candidates are what I would expect - a Bachman (or Bachmann) born in PA for several generations. Thus, if one of these happens to be a relative of my ancestor, John Phares Bachman, then I have some real good information.

If any of you are working on these families, I would like to find out what you know.

Thanks!
