Smith Baldwin marriage circa 1800? New York

I've recently discovered that my GGGrandfather Stephen B Smith's middle name is Baldwin. I'm wondering if his mother was a Baldwin or possibly one of his grandmothers was a Baldwin. Stephen was born c1808-1810 in New York State.
