Could LEONARD have been Jane BARBER's mother's maiden name?

1st generation [earliest] William Cutler Atwater

2nd generation John Hoadley ATWATER, born Jan. 23, 1824. John married Jane BARBER on June 9, 1853. She was born July 22, 1828. John died April 24, 1897. They lived in NYC, New York.

Their children were
1). John Albert ATWATER, born Feb. 13, 1854,
2). Mary Elizabeth ATWATER, born Aug.5, 1855, m. Wilfred SMITH.
3). William Cutler ATWATER, born July 4, 1861,
4). Elsie Welling ATWATER, born June 26, 1866 (unmarried),
5). Jane Leonard ATWATER, born July 17, 1870.
