I am Town Historian of Pelham, New York (a volunteer position) and an attorney with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York City. I am trying to locate fellow researchers who have researched William Milo Barnum who was one of the three founders in 1884 of my law firm. I recently have been asked to draw on my experience as an amateur historian to develop a more substantive historical background of our firm than any that previously has existed.
Among the many projects with which I have been involved in this regard, I have been researching the lives of each of the founders and preparing brief "research papers" documenting and summarizing the research. I have prepared such a paper regarding William Milo Barnum, fully footnoted to citations to the references used so far. The paper includes a number of images relating to Mr. Barnum and his family. I still have much work to do and many more resources to review in order to complete the "paper", but am more than willing to share it with other researchers looking into the background of Mr. Barnum, his ancestors and his descendants.
I have had success communicating with descendants of Messrs. Simpson and Thacher and am hoping that researchers who access this board may be able to help me as well. If you have available -- or could you point me in the direction of other members of the Barnum family that might have available -- any information about or images of William Milo Barnum, Anna T. P. Barnum and/or any of their children (Laura Barnum Levering, William Henry Barnum, Walter B. Barnum and Phelps Barnum) I would like to establish communications.
I would appreciate any help or courtesies you might extend in this regard. I would be interested in any images related to them -- not just portraits, but snapshots, pictures of family homes, etc.
