I came in possession of my grandfather's old metal box of family photos, letters, documents, etc. recently. This photo is among other old ones, ones that I have been able to identify in the family tree, but I am totally stumped as to how Calvin Bartlett is related, even by marriage. There are two identifications on the back, in two different hands. The top one says "Mother's step-father Bartlett". The second, in my Grandfather Perry Parsons' hand says "Mother's Uncle Calvin B.". Grandpa's mother was Nettie Eugenia Bates Parsons. Nettie married her step-brother Francis Herbert Parsons. Nettie's father was Clark Bates, whose line I have been totally unable to locate, except to see a reference to a Henry Bates having been his father. I'm hoping Calvin hooks up with the Bates line somehow. Nettie's mother was Lucy Jane Brewster, second wife of Francis Janes Parsons.Francis Janes Parsons' first wife was Mary Aurelia Blackman. All of these individuals except Grandpa were from Worthington, Chesterfield and Peru Massachusetts, at least originally, connecting later to Iowa. Francis married a third time, I believe to a woman whose surname was Noble, who was from Iowa. Lucy's parents were Elisha Brewster and Spophronia Martha Kingman Brewster. I know that she had a brother Charles and a sister Isabel, but am not sure if there were more siblings. The Bartlett name must have been remembered fondly in the family, as I just now noticed in Nettie's obituary that the middle name of her daughter Carrie was Bartlett. Any help in connecting any of these surnames to Calvin would be greatly appreciated. This is the photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27407020@N08/2910970934/ Notify Administrator about this message?
