Please contact me at bassettgenealogy@Hotmail.com for more information. Here is what I currently have on this family.

FIRST GENERATION

Jahial Bassett was born about 1795 in New York. He died 16 Nov 1861 in Michigan. He married Sally. She was born about 1807 in New York. She may have been a second wife based on census information. Jahial may have been a son of Charlotte Bassett who was also living in Bedford, New York in 1820.
Listed as heirs of Jahiel Bassett were his widow Bethiah Bassett, Eliah Bassett (enlisted in the U.S. army), John N. Bassett, Macomb County, and Smith Morgan a grandson, residing in Lapeer County.
An Arcadia obituary for John N. Bassett, son of Jahiel, states that he died 23 Jul 1900. He was born in 1840 in Almont Township and lived there to age 17, and moved to the Hadley farm. He moved to Addison, Oakland County, and from there to Lum, where he lived 21 years. He left a wife and four daughters.
