BASSETT After only three days of sickness, Mrs. Hester Ann Bassett died at her residence one mile south of Bricelyn at 2 o'clock Tuesday morning, March 8, 1910 of stomach trouble and heart failure, aged 64 years lacking five days. The funeral services were 1 o'clock at the Baptist Church in Bricelyn, Rev. I.H. Darnell officiating. Interment was made in the Clayton cemetery. Hester Ann Salley was born April 13, 1846 in Kenneback county, Maine. When she was but three weeks old her parents removed to Dodge County, Wisconsin, making the trip from Buffalo to Milwaukee by way of the great lakes and traveling by ox team to Dodge County. When she was eight years old, her parents settled in Olmstead County, Minnesota, where she grew up to womanhood. At the age of 19 she was united in marriage to G.D. Bassett of the same place, they having been school mates from childhood. The marriage took place March 31, 1865. On July 17, 1867, they arrived in Faribault county, and settled on a homestead in Seely township where they have continually resided. She was the mother of seven children, as follows: Mrs. Lettie Olson, Bricelyn,; Mrs. Effie Gifford, Fallon, Montana; Mrs. Dora Gibson, Palms, Mich., Mrs. Hettie Jones, Balaton, Minn.; Mrs. Bertha Rendall, Prescott, township and Mrs. Georgia Trembel of Waukegan, Ill. Besides her husband and children she leaves four sister and two brothers to mourn her death. At the age of 20 years, Mrs. Bassett united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in which faith she passes to the beyond. Mrs. Bassett to use a homely expression, was a home body. She was not only a kind and indulgent wife and mother but was always relied upon for a helping hand by her neighbors in time of sickness and need and Aunt Hester as she was usually called never disappointed. She was a good woman and will be greatly missed, not only by her relatives but by a host of friends. Notify Administrator about this message?
