RUMNEY, NH — Stella F. Batchelder, 97, of 104 Stinson Lake Road, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005 at the Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth. She was the widow of Allie E. Batchelder, who died in 1976.
She was born in Rumney, Dec. 7, 1907, the daughter of the late Delbert and Louise (Craig) Kenneson. After her marriage Jan. 1, 1929, she lived in Ellsworth for 55 years where she and her husband raised five children and cared for several others at various times. While there she held town offices of Town Clerk, Treasurer and Tax Collector for many years and Chief of Police for a time. Due to her health, she moved to Rumney in 1984 to make her home with her daughter and husband.
She was a very loving and caring person who will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and Howard Kenneson, two sisters, Vivian Bixby and Nina Switzer and her eldest son, Sterle in 1968.
Survivors include three sons: Stanley and his wife Lucille Batchelder of Rumney, Arnold Batchelder of Orleans, Mich., Ralph and his wife Theresa Batchelder of Ellsworth; one daughter, Bertha Duncklee of Rumney; three granddaughters: Holly Zeller of Belding, Mich., Cheryl Batchelder of Greenville, Mich., and Shirley Batchelder of Thornton; three great granddaughters, Nicole, Kelly and Allie Zeller of Belding Mich.; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon Street, Plymouth, on Wednesday at 1p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery, Campton.
