My mother said the middle name is Gregg. He may have also been born in 1836 vice 1838.
I come from the line of Batchelders who came from England in 1637 (+/- some years) from Canterbury, Kent, England. It was 4 brothers: Joseph, Mark, John, and Ebenezer....supposedly.
Any info would be so helpful!
