BATCHELDER, of North Providence, was born in North Providence, January 10, 1836, and received a public school education. Was postmaster at Centredale, 1886-93; representative from Johnston, 1883, and from North Providence, 1895. At various times during the past 16 years has been member and president of North Providence town council. During the Civil War, served three years as Sergeant of Company C, 7th Rhode Island Volunteer Infantry, and was wounded at the Battle of Fredericksburg, December 13, 1862, and at the Battle of Spottsylvania, May 18, 1864.
