To be honest I didn't know about Thomas Batchelor brother of Jesse. I had all the children except him. My best educated guess suggests that your Thomas was Jesse's brother. I don't believe that any Batchelor in the small county of Putnam was not related. I believe Jesse had the following children: Littleberry, Blakey B., Annis, Cordy, Riley and Marina. I also believe that there may be more children. One in particular was Archibald Batchelor. His eldest son was named Jesse. Only Marina is mentioned by her father in his will. However, Blakey's family is buried on land called to this day the "Mallory Place". I believe that is the land inherited by Marina. Riley moves his family to Richmond County, Georgia. Your Thomas married in Putnam County, Georgia in 1816. I would think that he traveled with Jesse to Putnam and married soon after their arrival. According to census records, Riley did have a son named Thomas J. Batchelor. I have been unable to track him on the census records after 1870. So the person who wrote message 645 is correct in thinking that Riley is the father of Thomas J.C. Batchelor. Hope this helps.

Lisa
