Solomon Batchelor was b. 1750, Norfolk Co., VA, d. April 5, 1806, Hallfax District, Franklin Co., NC; m. Sarah Boswell.
Children of Solomon & Sarah:
(1) Thomas Agrigga, b. December 23, 1770, Franklin Co., NC, d. April 14, 1842, Liberty, Amite Co., MS; m. Rebecca Gayden (we are not sure that this TA was the son of Solomon--he was the father of the TA whose letters to his sons are shown on p. 234 of the book "The Civil War" by Geoffrey Ward with Ric and Ken Burns in the TV series)
(2) Martha "Patty", b. 1772, Franklin Co., NC; m. David Jackson.
(3) Jesse, b. 1775, Franklin Co., NC, d. 1856, Putnam Co., GA; m. about 1793, NC, Lucy Whitfield. (This is the Father of Blakey B. and grandfather of the brothers Jesse S. and George Washington. Nancy Melvina "Vine" Eskew was GW's third wife).
(4) Zilpha, b. 1778, Franklin Co., NC; m. December 23, 1797, NC, Thomas Wilson.
(5) Penelope "Penny", b. 1780, Franklin Co., NC.
(6) Reuben, b. 1783, Franklin Co., NC; m/1 January 30, 1810, Nash Co., NC, Lucretia Carter; m/2 June 30, 1817, Orange Co., NC, Peggy Couch; m/3 December 18, 1850, Orange Co., NC Martha Brazil.
(7) Solomon , Jr., b. about 1785, Franklin Co., NC, d. 1870, Franklin Co., NC; m. April 30, 1824, Nash Co., NC, Elizabeth Cooper; m/2 December 11, 1833, Franklin Co., NC, Leony "Lesy" Wood.
(8) William Henry, Sr., b. 1787, Franklin Co., NC, d. September 1869, Carroll Co., GA (Following the death of his parents, the minor WH was bound over to Guardian Henry Hunt on September 17, 1807).
(9) John (my ggg grandfather), b. about 1792, Franklin Co. NC, d. August 8, 1868, Bloomfield, Stoddard Co., MO; m/1 November 17, 1813, Lebanon, Wilson Co., TN, Nancy Claxton; m/2 July 1839, Jane Lenert. (Minor, bound to guardian Henry Hunt on September 19, 1807).
(10) Thomas, b., about 1794, Franklin Co., NC, d. before 1830, Putnam Co., GA; m. October 13, 1816, Putnam Co., GA, Eliza Jones. (Minor, bound to guardian Henry Hunt on September 17, 1807).
(11) Peyton, b. about 1796, Franklin Co., NC; m. February 18, 1822, Franklin Co., NC, Elizabeth Wood "Betsy" Morris ( Minor bound to guardian Henry Hunt on September 17, 1807).
The guardian of the minor boys moved to near Gallatin, Sumner Co., TN, about 1810. When the boys reached manhood, John joined the Army for the War of 1812; Peyton returned to Franklin Co., TN; and Thomas and William Henry joined their older brother Jesse, in Putnam Co., GA.
I show the children of Jesse S. and Vine to have been Charlie, b. about 1870; Jessie, b. about 1872; and Anna Lou, b. about 1874.
Children of George Washington and Vine were Mittie Clementine, b. December 1, 1886; Georgia "Shug", b. about 1888; and Jennie, b. about 1890.
