Descended from Cordy?

Hi,
My father G.Keener Batchelor is the son of Samuel Kendrick Batchelor , who is the son of James Allen Batchelor. Here is where the uncertainty is. The 1910 Fed census data shows James and wife Lula (Lou) and Kendrick my grandfather. The date of birth on James' headstone shows that he was born 4-25-1864. The 1910 data also shows that James and his father and mother were born in GA, which has been told from gen to gen in our family. With these facts in hand , I did a thorough search using ancestry.com and the only James that I found to be in Ga in 1870, and whose age was anywhere close to the aforementioned headstone claim , was a child of Early and Bluford Batchelor. The age fits perfectly. Problem unsolved.
In the 1870 jones co,Ga popes Dist. data, the middle initial of this James is unclear. It appears to have been written over. The same holds true for that of his younger brother one line below him. At any rate , this appears to be James Allen. His father ,Early , is the son of Cordy, the son of Jesse Batchelor. One other anomalae is that I belive Cordy to be short for Cortez. ??? If anyone knows any differently, please help. I've been working on this since 1999.
