Brian,
My name is Carlton Evans and Cordy Batchelor was my Great-grandfather. I am not sure about the Cortez name but I do know that from reseaching this line that James' middle name was Early. I had talked several years ago with someone about Cordys' father being Jessee. This was based on speculation and no known facts. Do you have any proof of this in your research? I would really like to know more about Cordys' history. I do not visit her often so you can correspond with me by my email at jcarevans@bellsouth.net
