Gaffney Ledger, Nov. 27, 1919.
Gaffney,Cherokee Co. S.C.
J.R. BATCHELOR ,67,a well-known and highly respected Cherokee County farmer, died at his home about 4 miles north of Gaffney Saturday evening. He had been in bad heath for several months, suffering from heart affliction.
The funeral services were conducted at Providence Baptist Church; interment in the church cemetery.
MR. BATCHELOR is survived by his wife and one son, W.P. BATCHELOR of this city. Four brothers, all of Cherokee Co, also survive him, these being D.W., A.L., D.M., and W.S.J. BATCHELOR.
MR. BATCHELOR was born in Orange county, N.C., in 1852. He moved to this section of S.C. 41 years ago, during which time he has been one of the county's substantial farmers.
