Anyone have anything on the following, especially John S. Bell( my g.g.g. grandfather), I'm stuck. John Starkey Bell- (from some newpaper clippings)G.A.R. Veteren Dies Oct 29th 1925 (date of death or date of newspaper?) Capt John S. Bell Capt John S. Bell Dies at Wilkinsburg Was a veteren of Civil War. Native of Ireland Capt John Starkey Bell aged 84 died yesterday in home of his daughter Mrs. Bessie B. McMillin. 305(or805) Biddle Avenue, Wilkinsburg. Capt Bell was born at White Church(also known as Ballywalter), County Down, Northern Ireland, and came to this country immediately after his graduation from Queen`s college, Belfast, Ireland. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted as a private and advanced to the rank of captain, serving with company E One hundred and twenty third infantry. He later served as adjutant with the second brigade , Third Division, United States Army Corps. He was a member of Col. J.B. Clark Post of the G.A.R. He leaves a son J.B. Bell of Houston TX and two daughters, Mrs. McMillin and Mrs W.W. Davis of Philadelphia, and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Morrison of White Church, Ireland, and Mrs. Annie Hickey (possibly Bickey or Bieky or Biekey) of Bangor, Maine. He also leaves 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.--------military: Company E (Allegheny county, PA) 123rd Infantry, Captain, Aug 8 1862, mustered out with company May 12, 1863, Roll # 484. Also 1st Lieut. Company B 193rd Infantry organized at Cmp Knox 100 days, 7/19/1864 moved to Baltimore to gaurd railroad and Phila and Wilmington bridges. Mustered out with company Nov 19, 1864. roll # 495. 2 sisters Catherine Morrison of White Church, Ireland, and Annie Hickey (possibly Bickey) of Bangor, Maine m. Elizabeth (Eliza) Beatty d. 1918 children born in PA -Charles T Bell b. 1863 -William Starkey Bell b. 1866 -Elizabeth(Bessie) Beatty (Bell) Mcmillin b. 1867 d.1948 -m. John Mcmillin b. 1888 (I have more info on their children) -John Beatty Bell b. 1868 -Eleanor (Nellie) W Bell -m. William Davis (this would be my maternal line) -James Bell b.1870 -Bates Bell EST 1870 -Frederick Bell b. 1876 Please any info on this line will be four years in waiting!
