Looking for descendants of Doctor John Bennet
Challands BLATCHLEY (Jack), born 2 April 1861 in
Halam, Nottinghamshire. He married for the first time,
Matilda CORNWELL, on 11 May 1892 at Camberwell
Register office and they had 3 children, Jack Cornwell
born 21 June 1893 in Deptford, Alison Cissie born 1896 probably in Deptford, Eva Kathleen born 1898 also probably Deptford. Matilda died in 1898 and John
married Elizabeth Ann WHEATLEY in Aldrington, Sussex on 28 July 1900. They had the following children: Dorothy Jeannie Patricia born 14 June 1901 in
Deptford, Marjorie Vera born 3 September 1902 in
Deptford (died unmarried about 1960), Annie Lilian
Beatrice born 1904 probably in Deptford, Edwin Donald
born 13 March 1906 in Deptford and died there on 12
August 1906, and Elsie Winifred Margaret born 28
August 1907 in Deptford. John married for a 3rd time
to Amelia LANGLEY on 20 June 1928 and he died on 15 December 1943 in Sidcup aged 82.
Of his children, Jack Cornwell served in WW1 but
nothing else is known; Alison married Herbert Ephraim
ANGEL on 10 June 1916 in Deptford, they had 2 known
children Audrey Phyllis Marie (born 1920) and Clifford
J. C. (born 1925); Eva married Raymond George HINTON in 1919 in Southwark, 4 known children Rita, Sybil, Lionel and Hazel Rosemary; Dorothy married Ernest BLANCHLOWER in 1923 and had 1 known child, Patricia E. C. (born 1924); Annie married Clarence William OLIVER in 1928 and had 1 known child, Betty (born 1929); Elsie married Thomas George HEWISON in 1928 and had 1 known child, Peggy S (born 1929).
Most of John's grandchildren were born in the Lewisham registration district - I know that a lot of them
lived in the Forest Hill area.
I would love to hear from any descendants of this family. I am descended from John's older brother, William Edwin Blatchley.
