Thank You *So* Much Jenny!

Yes! this is it. Let's see if I can fill in a few more things...

I'd love to know what You've learned about Blatchleys, as I'm trying to figure out where I came from :-)

I've always wanted to know how to spell Marchand (he was always "Marsh" to our family). Marsh died in 1981 of cancer which he allowed to go untreated until it was too late. He was cremated and is interned in Arlington National Cemetary (due to his Army service). He was offered a promotion to (Brigadier?) General (from Colonel) at retirement, but he refused it saying that he had not earned it in actual service. He was both intellectually and artistically gifted, and a wonderful tutor (he helped me over significant problems in math as a teen). There was a serious rift between my Dad (Barry René Blatchley) and Grampie Marsh over the violent discipline of Dad's half sister Suzanne (Marge & Marjory's daughter) which lasted about 20 years. This was resolved at the funeral of either my Great Grandma Blatchley or Aunt Lina (I'm not sure which). Anyway, in the last 5 years of his life, the three of us got along famously. (He and Marge moved to Foxfire, North Carolina -- near Pinehurst, in the late 70's)

It's interesting, Marsh, Dad and I are all intellectually and artistially gifted, and we all seem to share the "Blatchley Stuburness, and perfectionism," and I see these traits in my own son, Joshua (almost 9).

Marance, (Aunt Mance) is still alive (in Florida, I believe). There was a big rift between her, Uncle Curt (Curtiss), Jean (Marches' first wife, now deceased) and Dad. There is still a tremendous amount of animosity in my Dad related to these family issues.

Curtiss, died of a gunshot wound (I think in the early 70's). He had was a successful musician, who had always had problems with depression. We (in the family) think that the "accidental" death, was actually suicide. (I know that my parents talked him out of suicide on a number of occasions, and I spoke with him once. From what I understand, he was a "black sheep" of the family, but he seemed to be a nice person.)

I recognize Fannie and Duplessis - I'm pretty sure that this was my Great Grammie Blatchley, whom I met a couple times as a child.

I'm wondering if Reuben was the Blatchley who established Meriden's first florist shop?

Anyway, I hope this helps, and I would love to hear from You!

Again, Many Thanks & Take Care! :-)

-Brette
