Hello Linda James was born 10 July 1765 around Charlotte Va. He first married Elizabeth Fortune who died shortly after. they had no children. He then married Zeriviah or Zeroiah Eubanks. they had Malinda 1801, Martha 1803, William Henry 1805, Sophia 1807, John 1809, Emily 1812, Dicy 1814 and Nancy 1817. Before his last child was born James died, 30 May 1817. Zera and her children with her family moved to Ky then to Missouri. Zera remarried a Tomlinson. She died after giving birth to a daughter Zera that was named after her. As far as the last name being changed I can only surmize. In ephraim will, I don't have a copy with me so this is on memory, The oldest son is given the bulk of his estate. He is also to provide support for Ephrai's wife and youngest son James. James sues his brother shorly after his fathers death. I can only assume it had something to do with the estate. It is shorly after this that James changes the spelling of his name from Bowen to Boian. Later his son John and his family leave Missouri and travel by wagon train to Oregon around 1852. Along the way John and another relative drink water from a Alkalie spring and die. His wife and children continue on to Oregon where a school teacher there changes his children's name back to Bowen. So the Boian's of Ky, Ohio Indiana and Missouri have direct ties to the Bowens of Oregon not to mention Virginia, Tenessee and so on. My tree is on ancestry.com and also is available on rootsweb.com There is also a book the Boian's of Kentucky with many pictures, wills, stories. Even though it covers William Henry Boian's descendants it covers earlier family including Ephraim. There is also a web site on Ephraim and his sons http://www.geocities.com/fcullom/ephraimbowen.html you can contact me directly jerrydavis3@cox.net jerrydavis(at)cox.net or Jerry.Davis@asm.com Jerry.Davis(at)asm.com Best Regards Jerry Davis Notify Administrator about this message?
