I saw the Alexander and Mary Brannan passenger list record that you spoke of. If I remember aright, Mary made her mark 'X' in the middle of her name that someone had written for her. They were given acreage in the back country of SC in an area called Long Canes, I think. A couple of years later they acquired another parcel somewhere else in SC. I didn't pursue it beyond that.

There were a passal of Brannan's in the Spartanburg area around this time. I've been trying to determine if our William Brannen in Georgia could have been a part of one of those families.
