Hi to all.
I have researched 3 of the 4 families of my grandparents. I am now trying to start out searching for my mother's mother's family. My grandmother's name was Alexandrine Briau. Her father was Alfred Briau. Her mother was Stephanie Gadua. I think they came from Montreal to Ontario. My grandmother Alexandrine, was born in Pembroke, Ontario.
My mother never knew her grandparents on that side of the family. She knows nothing more than names. No birth dates, no marriage dates, no spouses names (except 1). The only thing I have is an old photograph which my mother, in her wise youth, had written the names of her aunts and uncles. Here they are.
Marianne and her husband Alphonse (no surname known).
Eugenie, Anselme, Hubert (also called Lambert), Albert, and Alexandrine.
I have scoured the internet for Briau and came up empty so far. My mother does not believe her mother's family were Acadian, but I thought I'd check that it might have been spelled Breau, or Breaux instead of Briau.
If anyone recognises any of these names, then I would be most interested to hear from them.
