Indeed, it could. I am looking for the father of Samuel Wesley Brister, who was born in Alabama in 1828. He married Nancy Noblin in 1849. She was also born in Madison County, Alabama.

Samuel’s death certificate states his father was Samuel Brister from Kentucky (info provided by L.P. Brister, a surviving son). However, Samuel states on census records that his father was born in Virginia, and his mother was born in Alabama.

I find this family in close proximity to the “Yalobusha, Mississippi Bristers,” but I cannot substantiate a connection between them. I would appreciate any ideas.
