Neil,
Thank you for your help. My "gut" feeling is that the birth certificate is not entirely correct. I believe the individual that I'm searching for is from Virginia. He might have moved to Kentucky later...perhaps died there. It is entirely possible that Louis, the son who supplied info for the death certificate, DIDN'T know where his grandfather was born.
I find these Bristers close to the descendants of Thompson Bristow/Brister in Alabama and Mississippi. This is a tough line to find....very obscure.
I have found Bristers in Colonial Virginia (Williamsburg and Dinwiddie County), but they may or may not be connected to Thompson Brister/Jedidiah Bristow.
Keep me in mind if you stumble across any loose Bristers....
