George P. Brockways of PA has become a puzzle for me. George P. that is located in Warren:(1859-1931) George P. Located in Titusville Early in my search on the two of the G.P. Brockways I ran across a one sentence newspaper article that read the Geo. P. of Warren was visiting A.W. or A.M. Brockway in Jmstn, NY. I have been unable to find this article again. Both George P’s visit a Brockway on Hazzard St., Jamestown, NY. George P. in Titusville is a son of Marcus Brockway of Hazzard St., Jamestown, NY and the George that located to Warren, Pa, is possibly a son of A. M. Brockway of Hazzard St., Jamestown, NY. The three questions that I’ve been attempting to answer in my search are: Who is A.M. Brockway? Who is the father of George P. Brockway of Warren Pa? Who is the father of George P. Brockway of Titusville Pa? I’ve only been able to answer one in three. Jamestown Directory 1879-1880 shows: Brockway A.M., confect’y, 20 Main, h Hazzard Brockway, Marcus, candy maker, h 23 Hazzard From the Evening Observer, Dunkirk, NY Feb. 7, 1883; Jamestown Journal: Efforts are being made to form a joint stock company to make some disposition with the patent for extinguishing fires in railroad cars and the patent for an improved air brake, the invention of A.M. Brockway, C.W. Waite and Porter Sheldon of Jamestown. (I did not find their patent on the U.S. Patent collection site) At the Jamestown NY library I did learn that Marcus Brockway died in Mar 1907, however, my eyes gave out reading after a couple hours. The library does not have an index for their microfilmed newspapers. The 1907 paper has an index on last day of the year and Marcus Brockway’s death is shown as recorded in the March 1st edition. It was not, nor is it on March 11th, 12th, 13th etc. I thought a digit had been dropped when this index was made up. The following are articles on GEORGE P.
