We have been looking for the family of George Brown supposed to have been born in Dauphin Co about 1834.
Recently I think I have been able to identify a John Peter Brown associated with him but at this point not an apparent relation. We do know George and Johns families and whereabouts after 1860. In the 1860 census they are living in Carrol Co IL with George's wife Lydia nee Zartman. Lydia was born Sept 03, 1837 Jackson Twp No Co PA daughter of Adam Zartman and Sussana born Reitz in Schuylkill Co. We
have a picture of John as an older man so the two kept in touch.
The death certificate for John Peter Brown lists him as born to John Brown in Dauphin Co PA July 15, 1835. There is a listing in the baptisms of Zion's Lutheran Church Tower City Porter Twp Schuykill Co for a Braun, John Peter son of Johannes and Catharina b July 15, 1835 bp Apr 3 1836 sponsor Peter Braun, alone. It does appear the family lives in the Clark Valley Rush Twp Dauphin Co. Catharina may have been born Houtz. He married Miss Esther Snoble in 1864 in Stephenson Co IL and dies in Milledgeville IL Feb 20 1920.
I still have little information on John Peters family and any information would be appreciated. Also I am not seeing a George Brown brother or cousin. Nor am I finding a George Brown in Dauphin Co that looks correct.
Looking wider in "HIMMELS'" or SCHWOBEN CREEK Lutheran Church Mahanoy / Washington Twp No Co Pa, there is an Amos Braun born to George Braun and Lydia 05/17/1834; bapt 07/06/1834 sponsors Michael and Catherine Braun ( grandparents, Catherine nee Scherer ). Amos would have grown up in the vicinity of Lydia Zartman, my George's future wife, and the families attended the same churches. The trees that I have showing Amos do not give a spouse or death information. There is another son in the family but none named George. There are a George and John Peter Brown listed in the 1850 census working for related Moyer families in Lykin and Mifflin Twps Dauphin, close to Mahanoy Twp in Northumberland. I don't know of a family relationship between the Moyers and Brauns that includes these children.
Does anyone have information that would refute or confirm that Amos Braun son of George Braun son of Michael Braun born in Washington Twp 1834 is not the same person as George Brown married to Lydia Zartman who dies in Boone IA 1895?
The information I have on Amos' grandfather Michael Braun is that he was born in Longswamps, Berks son of Michael B Braun and Maria, siblings Conrad and Sussana. Any further information on this family would also be appreciated.
