Edylene started collecting about 20 years
befre the book was printed. Her research began with what she knew in Oklahoma, then to Delaware Co. Ohio. She wrote numerous
letters to people named Cackler. placed queries in genealogical newsletters, took many trips to research archives & county courthouses, and she had lots of luck. It was fortunate that my 2ggrandfather, Benjamin Boughey, knew the names and parents of his first cousins on the Cackler side (his mother, Julia Ann Cackler 1796-1860). She never would have that information if I hadn't
contacted her in 1972, it opened new leads to search. Cackler research was not just her
effort, but a family that wanted something done; then there are those who don't respond.
It took a long time to get what we had. Since
then other stuff has been found. A coup would
have been finding in Germany where Johann Peter Geckeler was from, but we didn't. He was Christian Sr's grandfather. And Geckeler is the original surname.
To me,after 35 years of research, it seems like too much. Most of descendants are in the numerous female lines, and their female lines.
Let me ponder this one.
