Looking for information on Karl F.A. Cassel, born 1835 in Salzgitter (near Hannover) Germany. Parents Unknown. Left Germany in 1854 bound for New York.
Married Margaret Court in 1869 in Gulgong NSW Australia.
Prior to arriving in Australia, he spent some time in New York & the Californian Gold fields. Unsure of his religion- probably Lutheran, but could be Jewish. He may have had a sister: Johanna Cassel-Ziems?
I would be pleased to hear from anyone who can help in my search.
