Hello Kathy,

The Cassell name is spelled many ways by various descendants of the same family. Cassell, Cassel, Cossel, etc. We call our group of researchers the CSL group.
I have Jonathan Cassell married to Harriet Martha Snipes on November 13, 1851 in Wapello County, Iowa with one daughter, Olive G. Cassell. I have also have a note that he did not get along with his wife or child.
I also show Jonathan as born 1832 in Coles County, Illinois and his date of death as 1893 in Crescent City, California. I show Miss Snipes as being born in 1833 in North Carolina.
Jonathan was the son of Michael Cassell and Mary Ann McLaughlin. Michael was the brother of my husband's 3rd great-grandfather, John Franklin Cassell.

Do you know what happened to Olive?
Thanks. I hope this helps answer your questions.
Togin (Lawton) Cassell
