Harriet's sister Sarah Jane Mathews(b 1830) married Robert H Cassells. He is possibly related to Benjamin Cassells because he is found in the 1850 Heard Count Census. Heard Co is adjacent to Carroll County. Children were William, Daniel and Francis. Harriet and Sarah Jane's brother Henry Jasper married Rebecca Cassells. Moses R Mathews was their father. On the 1850 census birth place is listed as NC. On the 1880 census records all of his children listed their father's birth place as NC. This may not be be SC connection you were looking for in an earlier post. However, I have read that there was often confusion as to whether someone was born in SC or NC because of changing or confusing borders. There is some circumstantial evidence that suggets that this Moses was related to several Matthews that apparently were born in SC.
These names were found on the Heard County Ga census for 1850.
