John Castles was born in 1766 and died June 10, 1830. He was married ti Hannah Land who was born in 1773 and died July 12, 1853. He was a large landowner, and his will is in the South Carolina Archives. They are buried in the Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Hwy 321 between Winnsboro and Chester, S.C. They had 10 children, the oldest of whom was named Henry, who was my great-great-grandfather. He was married 3 times and had 16 children, 9 by his 1st wife, 3 by his 2nd, and 4 by his 3rd (one of whom was named Benjamin). Many of his decendants moved South and west and later to the mid-west. Many later dropped the "s" from the surname.
I am still researching who his parents were.
