Hi, Diana. I am Lynne Castle, and I am a greatgrandaughter of a Solomon Castle and an Amanda Copley. Could this be the one you mentioned?
I do not have any information further back than this couple. I am the granddaughter of John Emory Castle, who was one of 13 children born to Solomon and Amanda. John was born in the area of Job or Milo, Kentucky--as you probably know, this is near Inez. I didn't know where these towns were until I went on the internet. John served in the Spanish-American War and went to Cuba. The story I was told was that he spelled his name Cassel or Cassell at that time. However, the army payroll records listed him as Castle. He was told that if he wanted to get paid, he'd better sign his name Castle--and he did.
I really would like to have the information about the ancestors of Solomon and Amanda. If you know where I could get it, please tell me.
