Castle's from Kriesham, Palatinate, Pfalz, Germany

I have been researching the German line of Castles from Pfalz. I have been looking into the Native Americans, that some of their descendents married. My grandmother is from this line of Castle's. On one of the web sites for the Tuscarora's it stated that people from that area were dark complexed like them. I always thought of Germans as having very light skin. And that it was not uncommon for them to mix with the Native Americans. Has anyone ever seen pictures of people from that area of German? I know that my grandmother, mother, and sibblings are dark skin.
