November 2, 1944. Confederate Killed
The pathetic news came last week from the Soldiers Home at Beauvoir that the last remaining Confederate in the Home was hit by a passing car as he was about to enter a bus and died from injuries sustained. He was J. W. Castle of Yazoo County and was 96 years of age. The Home still has some inmates, widows and servants, but none who fought in the lines of the Confederate Army.
