Garden Grove Express Thursday, May 17, 1894 Garden Grove, Iowa OBITUARY - MRS. POND Jane BLACKBURN was born in Franklin Co., Ind., Dec. 3d, 1824. She removed with her father's family to Livingstone Co., Mo., when about fourteen years of age. She was married there to Ira S. CHENOWETH March 14, 1844, and bore to him two Children, Lemon CHENOWETH, and Ira Jane, wife of John SCOTT of Garden Grove. She was left a widow July 3d, 1846. In 1851 she married Eli POND, of Davis Co., Iowa, and removed to his home. To them were born nine children, three of whom, Levi, Willard and Belle, wife of Luther SCOTT, survive. They removed to Decatur Co. in 1855. She again became a widow in April 1880. Many years ago she united with the Christian denomination and for the last five years of her life has been in the communion of The Christian Union body. After more than nine weeks of sickness, in which she was wonderfully sustained and cheered by divine grace she departed this life April 8th, 1894, in the 70th year of her age, and the following day her remains were interred in Van Wert cemetery, the funeral services being conducted by Robert BEER, pastor of the Garden Grove Presbyterian church.
