I believe I found your Henry Clay Conklin (bn 1889 NE)on the census records and based on the names/dobs of his parents the below info is accurate. Except the census records dont show the maiden name of his mother But she is always listed Corintha. On the 1900 census Elijah & Corintha state they have been married 35yrs.....supporting the 1864 marriage entry below. Henry is listed as both Henry & Clay Conklin on different census years.

I found the above listing on Familysearch.org (the LDS site). There is another listing where he is listed as:
Elijah Friendly Conklin and all other info is the same. Be sure to check all of them out. Click on the 'Details' option down at the bottom of the page once you bring Elijah up and you will find names/address of others researching this line. One submitter even lists his web site.

Several of Henry Clay's brothers & also his parents still live on N. 30th street for the 1930 NE, Lancaster Co, Lincoln census..
I know this has nothing to do with Louisiana like your original posting but it sure appears to be the same Henry Clay Conklin.
