Hello Cormacks, all! I'm looking for information on my husband's great-grandparents, Alexander Cormack and Anne Sutherland. Alexander was a boat builder in Buckie. Alexander and Anne married on June 23, 1871, and had at least one child: Annie (Anne) Sutherland Cormack (my husband's grandmother) b. Feb 26, 1876, m. John George Fairweather July 20, 1900 in Buckie, d. June, 1962 in Edinburgh. Anne died while their daughter Annie was still at home. Apparently, Alexander married again and went a bit downhill with the new wife, who was not a hit with Annie. Family word has it that he had been fairly successful before Anne's death, but that he and his new wife spent too much time drinking away the profits from the business (of course, this story has come down through Annie, who didn't get along with her step-mum, so we have to take that into account!). Annie and John Fairweather raised their family (Children Alexander, Jessie, Stanley, Benjamina, John, Ann and William - he died in infancy) in Edinburgh and one of their sons, Alexander, emigrated to Canada and eventually sired a wonderful son named John (my husband, of course!) If any of you folks in this vast tribe have pieces of information about Annie's parents, siblings, the step-mother, etc, I would be so happy to receive them. Thanks so much, Cynthia Nolan
