My family came from Slickley which is a village 5 miles inland from Scarfskerry.
I have John's & Gordon's in my tree dating back to the 1800's. In my research I found that it was not particularly the norm in Caithness to give two Christian names to Cormack children when you go back 80+ years. I have a John Lawrence & a Donald Gordon in mine back in the mid 1800's. (They then moved from Caithness to Edinburgh)
Keep me posted if you get any info pre your Grandfather.
