Crane, etc., in book about Rabun Co. / N. GA. Mtns.

At least one Crane of Rabun Co., GA, is mentioned in this interesting book. And probably several of their neighbors and possible kin:

A new book is out which records a good deal of folk humor and some history of related families of the North Georgia Mountain counties, and Smoky Mountains of NC and TN. It includes over 200 true Appalachian stories of local folk.

It is called "High Humor Of The Hills," and I only list it here as a resource of family interest. Also includes some tables about mountain pioneer families. Here is the link to it:

PS: This is not an overall genealogy reference book, nor strictly relegated to genealogy research... but more of a focus on mountain family folklore and humor of NE GA, western NC and SC, east TN, and northeast AL. Several related families of interest to us are mentioned. The only "hard-fact genealogy" in it is a listing of pioneer settlers of the mountain counties in NE GA. But it is still a priceless record to have, about the lives and times of several related mountain families and the humorous things which happened to them.

I know at least one Crane family is mentioned in the Rabun Co. Pioneer Census section. Several neighbors, some who are surely at least near or distant kin of the Crane family, are written about in these true tales; some are told about anonymously. Areas include Clayton, Warwoman, Mountain City, Rabun Gap, Hiawassee, Saddle Gap, Screamer Mtn., Young Harris, Crooked Creek, Brasstown, Arkequah, Choestoe, Trackrock Gap, Blairsville, Owltown, Coosa, Dooly, Ivy Log, Gum Log, Plott Town, etc.
