Just to update on this.
I have located David's birth record. He was born 1880 St Cuthberts Poorhouse, Edinburgh. His mum Ellen/Helen CROSBIE was unmarried age 21, living there with him (source1881 census).
David vanishes, until his marriage to Janet Scott in 1898, in Wigtown.
I have managed to find nothing on him between his birth and marriage, and his mum is proving quite a mystery.
All I know of Ellen/Helen Crosbie is she was born in Edinburgh, circa1860. She was still alive in 1898(Davids marriage cert) and also appears to not have remarried (unless David did not keep in contact, and was unaware).
This line has been proving quite a headache, and I am having trouble proving who Ellen/Helen was, and what happened to her.
Any help, information, advice would be truly welcomed.
