Hello. I continue to look for the origin of a Clarissa CROSBY who married Charles KIDDER in 1841 in Chelmsford, MA. I don't know whether she was a Miss or a Mrs. (widow) when she married. She doesn't seem to match up with the few nee' Clarissa CROSBY's I've found. My guess is that she was a Mrs. Clarissa (?) CROSBY in 1841. Someone this morning suggested that she might have been Mrs. Clarissa (DARRAH) CROSBY. I did a quick search at census information and found that around 1800 there were both DARRAH and CROSBY families in the same towns in Hillsborough County, NH. So, I was wondering if anyone knows of any connections. I did a quick look ar the archives of the CROSBY Boards and don't see DARRAH mentioned. Betty (near Lowell, MA) P.S. Charles KIDDER had 4 children with his first wife. And, Charles and Clarissa had a son, Roscoe / Rosco KIDDER, in Westford, MA. The birth was not recorded at Town Hall as it happened at the Poor Farm. The birth record was just found a year ago. (There are descendants of Roscoe KIDDER who have searched for his birth-family for years.) Because Roscoe was sent to live with several families in Hillsborough Co., NH, from at least Age 4, I assume that Clarissa had a connection there ! Roscoe remained there until Age 18 when he went off to fight in the Civil War. He ended up in Kansas, married there, and remained there. I believe that Mrs. Clarissa (?) (CROSBY) KIDDER might have remained in the Chelmsford / Westford area. I found a Clarissa KIDDER living in Chelmsford in 1865 census. Her son had left to fight in 1862, and her husband died in 1867. So, the couple had obviously separated soon after they married. Notify Administrator about this message?
